雨の予報とうらはらに天気が良くなって来たので、マンハッタンへ行こう！バス待ち中。
Again... this view always makes me excited.
何度見ても、この景色はアガる！
It was around noon when I got to Manhattan. First, go get something to eat! I got an Italian sausage hot dog :-)
到着。まずは腹ごしらえ。スタンドでイタリアンソーセージのホットドッグにしよう♪
Then I brought it to Bryant Park to sit and eat.

I took a bus and went uptown to the Central Park area. This is the east side of the park around 86th.
バスに乗って少し北へ、セントラルパークの東側です。
The very first time to visit The Met Museum! Though I was interested in art, I didn't feel like coming here at all when I stayed in NY 12 years ago! well,,, maybe because the Met was too touristy for me then. I was a rock chick and interested in street culture more than preserved works in security. lol
はじめてのメトロポリタン美術館！
実は12年前NYに来た時は全く興味が無く(笑)...１か月も滞在したのに、その上アートが好きなくせに来なかった(笑) ロックキッズだった私には美術館で大事に保存されてる作品よりも、街を歩いて出会う道端の文化や感じる空気の方が刺激的で楽しかったので(笑)

私もいち観光客、みんなにと同じく入口の階段に座ってみました。
As you know, this museum is huge! I didn't see everything, I just visited some of the sections that I was interested in bringing the museum map. If you already know your taste, I recommend you to check what you want to see and which rooms they are exhibited in advance,,, or schedule a whole day for wandering here.
メトロポリタン美術館は巨大です。今回はマップ片手にまず興味のあるところだけを足早に見ました。もしも見たいものが決まっていたら、何を目当てに行くか、展示室番号など、事前に調べることを、又は全体を色々じっくり鑑賞するには一日十分に時間を取っておくことをお勧めします！

At museums in America, you can take a close look at famous works very casually. Of course, you must not touch them for a security and preservation raesons, but you can take pictures of them. This is so different from the most museums in Japan.
アメリカの美術館では超有名作品をとても間近で楽しむことだできます。触れる距離、でも勿論触っちゃダメです。フラッシュ無であれば自由に写真撮影ができるのも、日本のほとんどの美術館と大きく違うところ。私もたくさん写真を撮りました。
European Painting section
I was just walking through the section this time, but I got so fascinated by his works.
This is one of them,
"Bashi-Bazouk" Jean-Léon Gérôme
ヨーロッパ絵画のコーナーは、今回はさらっと通り過ぎようとしていたら、この人の絵に釘づけ！
ジャン‐レオン ジェローム という画家。
"How did you do that?" The work itself looks much better than my pic. The texture was so real, beyond oil painting. I was like "wow..." for a while :-)
画家ってすごい！どうやってこんな質感を描くの??? 写真より実物の方がずっとすごいです。このリアルなかんじ、油絵と思えない！ただただ「わぁ....」と見入っていました。

This work was very popular here and many people was taking a picture of it.

こちらの作品はとても人気のようで、みんなが写真を撮っていました。暗い展示室の中、幻想的でキレイでした。
American Wing section
パイオニア精神溢れるアメリカコーナー
大作ですね。大きな絵。
I like this kinda style, too... it's very America, right? lol
翼を持つ女神像なんて、とっても「アメリカ」なものも、実はけっこう好きです♪(笑)

As older artists like Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt did, paintings which express the lights and the shades are beautiful.
先のフェルメールやレンブラントなどのように、光と影が表現された作品は魅力的です。
Arms and Armer section
武器・甲冑のコーナー
Samurai style seems very popular all over the world. I heard people talking something about samurai in their own language... I often heard the word "Samurai" in this section. lol One kid was talking to his mom like "mom, did you know there were 2 samurais, not only one!" and his mom said "No honey, there was only one"...I don't know where the conversation came from, lol but it was cute :-)
鎧コーナーにて、「侍」という日本語は思った以上に世界に認知されている。各国の言葉での会話の端々に「サムライ...」「...サムライ」と聞こえてきた。会話の内容は分からないけど。
とある英語圏の男の子がお母さんに「ねぇ、サムライは一人じゃなくて二人いた、って知ってた？」と。お母さんは「いいえ、サムライは一人よ」と。なんでこんな話になってるのか不明だけど(笑)微笑ましい。
Medieval Art section
中世の美術のコーナー
2 and a half hours later, I came out of the building. Like I said, I didn't see evrything, so I will come to see more again :-)
There were some people performing in front of the building. I was watching them sitting on the stairs again.
約２時間半ほど見て回りました。今回見ていない物もたくさんあるので、また来ます :-)
歩いてちょっと疲れたので、また階段に座って一息。。。アカペラで歌う人達を眺めながら。
Japanese melody from a saxophone drew my attention. He was playing J-pop music with the Japanese flag. After playing some songs, he changed the flag to the Chinese flag and started playing Chinese soungs(...well, I didn't know the music but it sounded like Chinese to me! lol) He had only 2 of these flags. I guess he likes Japan and China... or just really knows there are so many tourists from Japan and China... lol
サックスの音色で馴染みのある日本の曲が聞こえてきました。この人、日の丸持ってJ-popを演奏してる。一通りのレパートリーを終えると日の丸を中国の旗に差し替え、中国の曲（知らない音楽だけど中国っぽい聞こえだからたぶんそうでしょう...）をはじめた。旗はこの２つしか持っていなかったよ。よほど日本と中国が好きなのか...お金使いに来た観光客に日本人と中国人が多いということを良く知っているのか...(笑)
The weather forecast totally failed :-) Strong sunlight is back!
天気予報は完全にハズレ、強い日差しが照りつける午後になりました。
After the short break on the stairs, I leaft the Met for Chelsea area.
I'll post some more pics here next time :-)
